Shrub Hardiness

Shrubs and Bushes can be hardy or tender
Hardy shrubs will not need any protection during the winter or outside of the growing season.

Tender shrubs are those that need protection in winter, either by mulching their root area with straw, or by placing a seasonal barrier of protective insulation around them. Some have to be moved inside, or to a greenhouse / sunroom over the winter months to survive.

There are borderline shrubs that need a sunny or a sheltered location to survive very cold areas / hardiness zones. An example of such a shrub would be the yellow flowered wall plant, Californian Glory (Fremontodendron).
